No. Beginner classes assume nothing; the first month is technique and drilling, and the fitness comes from showing up. Most members lose 4–6 kg in the first three months without changing anything else.
Bruises, yes. Injuries are rare because sparring is opt-in, controlled and never in the first six weeks. We have a physio in on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and a first-aider on the floor at all times.
Shorts without pockets or zips, a T-shirt or rash guard, water. We lend gloves, shin guards and a gi for the trial. Trimmed nails, please.
BJJ stripes are given on the mat when earned; belt gradings are the last Friday of each month with a syllabus test and rolling. Muay thai armbands are graded every quarter on pads and a light spar.
13 and up in the beginner BJJ and muay thai classes with a parent's consent; no MMA sparring under 16. Kids' BJJ (6–12) runs Saturday mornings.
Yes, up to 30 days a year, in blocks of at least 7 days, for injury or travel. Message the desk before the pause starts, not after.
